Debut

hi all. my name is michelle. as liz has already explained in her intro entry, this is our cross-country blog / attempt to force ourselves to eat healthier and to take pictures of some of our favorite foods.

thus, i present to you a spectacular display of healthy, delicious, flavor-blasted goodness.

hello world

hello world

i guess the closest label for this blog would be a “food blog,” but it’s really much less refined and much less sophisticated.  it’s not quite a “food” blog; it’s more like “foo” or “ood” or “fod.”  something not quite … food.  (note to liz:  dumplings look great.)

anyway, i hope you enjoy the stories and pictures from a couple of bayahs.  if we’re really blogging as long as our domain name suggests, then the entries will trend toward oatmeal or rice+peanut butter mixtures, and i really hope we get there.

A Quick Intro

I should start off by saying that Michelle and I are not professional chefs.  That almost goes without saying.  It’d be too comical to even begin describing what our cooking experiences have been, or how they would be in the future.  But experience aside, there are a host of reasons why Michelle and I started this which are useful in understanding why two bayahs like us are starting a food blog.

First of all, what is a bayah?  Well, Michelle can better explain it, but I like to think of bayahs as Edina and Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous–drinking problem optional.  Or, another example could be Kathy Lee and Hoda, from the Yenta Hour.  Or you know those two older Asian ladies you see at the mall carrying large bags and wearing sun-visors indoors?  They are ridiculous older women that hang out together and have a good time.  And that’s what she and I want to be, now and forever.

It stinks that we are on opposite coasts.  She lives the hip life in San Francisco, and I live the not-quite-as-hip-but-just-as-fun District of Columbia.  However, a couple of bayah like us don’t let a little thing like distance stop us from being fabulous.  One of the things we both try to do more of is cooking, and we’ve found that it is really difficult to live a young, working lifestyle and maintain good eating/cooking habits if you’re not already decent at it.  So, what does this mean for the bayah?  We’re going to start off slow and start with one dish apiece, every other week.  Photos and instructions included.  Hilarity ensues.  This way, we can stay in touch and we can keep tabs on each other’s efforts to eat better.

Mich, add or edit as you see fit.   I can’t wait to get started.
